Exam builder
Scholi's exam builder is a free online tool for writing a test, giving it to a class, and having it marked automatically. You add questions, set a time limit, and share a link. Answers are graded on the server, so results are ready the moment a student submits.
How the exam builder works
Write the exam
Add multiple-choice, true/false and typed-answer questions. Maths is written in an equation editor so notation stays exact.
Set the rules
Choose a time limit, decide whether questions shuffle, and pick how strictly the exam is locked down while a student is taking it.
Share it with your class
Send the exam to a class you have set up, or share a link. Students take it in the browser on any device.
Read the results
Marking happens on the server as answers arrive. Open the results to see scores per student and per question.
What you get
Marks itself
Grading runs on the server, never in the student's browser, so the answer key is never sent to the device taking the exam.
Three levels of lockdown
Run an exam relaxed, tracked, or locked. Tracked records tab switches and per-question time; locked adds kiosk controls.
Question-by-question breakdown
See which questions the class as a whole got wrong, not just who scored what — the view that tells you what to reteach.
Reusable drafts
Save an exam as a draft, come back to it, and reuse it next year without rebuilding it from scratch.
Common questions
How do students take a Scholi exam?
Students open a link in any browser on a phone, tablet, Chromebook or laptop. There is nothing to install. The exam runs in the page and submits when the student finishes or the timer ends.
Are Scholi exams marked automatically?
Yes, for multiple-choice, true/false and typed numeric answers. Marking runs on the server the moment an answer is submitted, so scores are ready as soon as the class finishes.
Can students cheat on an online exam?
Scholi offers three modes. Relaxed does no monitoring. Tracked records tab switches and time spent per question. Locked adds kiosk controls. No browser-based exam can be fully cheat-proof, and Scholi does not claim otherwise.
Is the exam builder free?
Yes. Building an exam, assigning it, and reading the results are all available on the free plan. You need a free Scholi account so your exams are saved to you.
