1.1A strip of equal factors, written short. Change the base, change the exponent, move the minus sign — then divide back down and fall past zero.
- I can read a power as a repeated multiplication, and name its base and its exponent.
- I can find a power of a fraction or a decimal.
- I can say why (−2)⁴ and −2⁴ are different numbers.
- I can build the ladder of powers and show why any base to the power zero is one.
- I can carry the ladder below zero and write a negative power as a fraction.
